Rep. Huelskamp: Is Jack Bauer Running the NSA?
WASHINGTON – Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) makes a firm stance in holding President Obama and his administration accountable in the gross amount of privacy violations by the National Security Administration. Today as the NSA director, Army General Keith Alexander testified before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Representative Huelskamp released the following statement:
“Either the President and his key advisors are lying about not knowing the NSA was spying on world leaders or they’re incompetent. Clearly the NSA program is a big mess and no one seems to know what’s going on over there. It’s as if Jack Bauer from the TV show 24 is running the NSA. We cannot trust the NSA and we cannot trust this Administration. Spying worries not only Kansans but also all Americans and now also our foreign allies. This is why I co-sponsored the USA Freedom Act yesterday.
The Uniting and Strengthening America by Fulfilling Rights and Ending Eavesdropping, Dragnet-collection, and Online Monitoring Act (USA FREEDOM Act) would reduce the NSA’s ability to protect law-abiding Americans from being spied upon by their government. I joined Representative Jim Sensenbrenner and dozens of other co-sponsors in introducing this bill to protect our civil liberties and the future liberties of generations to come.”
