Huelskamp Intern Bessmer Gets “Bird’s-Eye” View at State of the Union
WASHINGTON – Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) welcomes Kansan John Bessmer of Emporia, KS as his guest to the State of the Union. Bessmer, a junior at Emporia State University majoring in Business Management, is participating in an internship program in Huelskamp’s office through the University of Kansas. Bessmer is one of only a small number of people who will witness in person President Obama address the nation during tonight’s State of the Union.
“I feel deeply honored and grateful that Congressman Huelskamp invited me to be his guest for tonight’s State of the Union address,” said Bessmer. “It really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
“I’m pleased to have a young Kansan represent the “Big First” at the State of the Union. I have been impressed with John’s work ethic during his short time with my office, and tonight he will have a unique opportunity to see first-hand a little piece of history,” said Huelskamp.
