Huelskamp Fights for Marriage at March
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) served as a featured speaker for the National Organization for Marriage’s March for Marriage in Washington, D.C. Congressman Huelskamp was joined in speaking by Governor Mike Huckabee, Senator Rick Santorum, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, among others. The event was held to support traditional marriage and highlight the tremendous public support of marriage between a man and a woman. Representative Huelskamp issued the following statement:
“I consider it a great honor to speak and participate at this year’s March with my family. Despite what the Obama Administration and liberal media would like us to believe, the American people know that every child deserves a mom and a dad. The institution of marriage holds a society together—and the people, not a group of activist unelected judges, have spoken.
“Last June I introduced the Marriage Protection Amendment (HJ Res. 51), a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman. President Obama has made it clear that he is waging war on religious liberty—he is waging war on the family—he is waging war on the future of our children. The thousands that have gathered today to say enough is enough, Mr. President. As a member of Congress, I will continue to fight and defend our families and our children.
